8-Day Great Migration Safari
Overview
This 8-day private trip with Tanzania Tourism Safaris takes you through Tanzania’s best-known wildlife parks. The route follows the path of the Great Migration, with big landscapes, excellent game viewing and small tented camps. You start with the big elephant herds of Tarangire and finish at the Mara River crossings in Northern Serengeti, where you get a close view of the herds in action.

Day 1 Arrival – Kilimanjaro International Airport to Arusha Stay Planet LodgeMeals Dinner
We meet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Your own Tanzania Tourism Safaris driver takes you to your lodge in Arusha, where you have dinner and a short safari briefing.

Day 2 Arusha – Tarangire National Park Stay Lake Burunge Tented CampMeals Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast you drive to Tarangire National Park, known for its big elephant herds and old baobab trees. You spend the whole day on game drives, with a picnic lunch in the park, then head to your tented camp nearby.

Day 3 Tarangire – Karatu Stay Tloma Lodge or Ngorongoro Forest Tented LodgeMeals Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Dinner
In the morning you go back into Tarangire for one more game drive. Look out for lions, giraffes and some of the park’s 300-plus bird species. After lunch you drive up to Karatu, a cooler highland town close to Ngorongoro.

Day 4 Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti National Park Stay Serengeti Baobab Camp or Serengeti Sound of NatureMeals Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Dinner
Today you drive down into the Ngorongoro Crater, where all of the Big Five live, including the rare black rhino. After a full morning on the crater floor, you carry on to Central Serengeti and reach camp around sunset.

Day 5 Full Day Safari – Central Serengeti Stay Serengeti Baobab Camp or Serengeti Sound of NatureMeals Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Dinner
A full day on the central Serengeti plains. This area is good for lion prides, cheetahs hunting in the open grass and leopards resting in acacia trees. You get back to camp in the evening.

Day 6 Central Serengeti – Northern Serengeti Stay Serengeti Baobab Camp North (Kogatende)Meals Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Dinner
You head north to Kogatende, one of the best places to see the Great Migration. On the way you will pass large herds of wildebeest and zebras, with predators never far behind.

Day 7 Full Day Safari – Northern Serengeti Stay Serengeti Baobab Camp North (Kogatende)Meals Breakfast, Packed Lunch, Dinner
The whole day is spent along the Mara River, following the wildebeest as they gather to cross water full of crocodiles. Your guide knows where to wait, which gives you the best chance of seeing a river crossing.

Day 8 Fly from Kogatende – Arusha / Kilimanjaro International Airport Meals Breakfast, Packed Lunch
After breakfast we take you to Kogatende Airstrip for the flight back to Arusha, with good views on the way. In Arusha you have lunch and can use a day room (optional) before your international flight or the next part of your trip.
